PORDAC would like to give special thanks to Chintels India Ltd. and the Nora Solomon Foundation for sponsoring the space for our Parivartan School centre.

The Nora Solomon Foundation was established in memory of the late Mrs. Nora Solomon (1917 – 2001) in the family of George and Ruby Brave. She received her education at a simple boarding school in the city of Agra. Although she did not pursue a professional career, she contributed most of her free time working toward social welfare and community development. She served on various committees and was responsible for several drives aimed at creating awareness about various social evils that plagued humanity, such as domestic violence; ill-treatment of women at home and in society; and infringement of the rights of widows. Education of underprivileged children (especially girls) was another cause close to her heart. At her own behest, she conducted open classes to educate children from underprivileged backgrounds and also encouraged others to do the same.

Nora Solomon instilled the same value system in her progeny and, in order to give shape to her vision of a society without social and economic disparity, the Solomon family founded the Nora Solomon Foundation, which is fully financed by the family-owned Chintels India Ltd.

Chintels India Ltd. is a young and dynamic real estate company in Gurgaon, sprawling across 600 acres of five premium sectors and growing at an exceptional pace. Personal initiative, innovation, and commitment to be the finest are the driving forces that have catapulted Chintels to be amongst the top ten land owners in Delhi and Gurgaon.

Mr. Ashok Solomon, chairman of Chintels India Ltd., is keenly involved in the operations of the Foundation. He is the All India General Secretary of the United Christian Action, a registered society founded for conducting Christian laiety work. He is also a trustee on the Baptist Church Trust Association, a body that is a part of the Baptist worldwide mission and is in control of huge church properties and institutions throughout India. Mr. Solomon directly supervises the entire management and development of the properties and institutions of this Church.

The Nora Solomon Foundation was established with the purpose of contributing to society and becoming a catalyst in its own right of socio-economic change in India. They observed and arrived at the consensus that society as a whole was lagging in providing quality education to enhance employability with special emphasis on vocational skill training, inculcating the concept of inclusive education for special children with a desired focus on providing educators with specialised skills, healthcare for persons with disabilities, and care for the elderly, among many other key issues plaguing society with needed immediate attention.

The Nora Solomon Foundation is in the process of establishing its own facilities for training Special Educators and Instructors for disabled children. They are at the nascent stage of setting up Vocational Skill schools and a Nursing College to train the underprivileged youth in amassing specialised crafts and skills, enabling them to gain financial independence and provide economic resuscitation for their families. They have earmarked the location for setting up an OPD Centre for providing quality healthcare to the elderly and the underprivileged.

Meanwhile, the Foundation continues its work through contributions to various charities, sponsoring education and forming partnerships with other organisations with similar objectives by providing financial assistance and/or administrative support.
